Major networking vendor EMC is launching a dedicated data management approach under the libStorage label to bring new open source freedoms to the storage industry.

 With so much of our use of cloud computing now dependent upon the platforms and services emanating from the world's biggest data-centres, the need for internal interoperability between datasets has never been more pressing.
 
EMC is working to create a new standard to unify blocks of data as they exist between different platforms. Specifically, it aims to address the disconnect often caused by 'containerisation' in data.
TAKEAWAY THOUGHTNative interoperability at the heart of the data-centre sounds like a long way from your own device, until you need to connect to the cloud and get online services working in harmony. This type of innovation matters both at the front and back end.
