Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are the glue that connect different apps, services and data together.

As our understanding of APIs outside of the core tech team increases and business managers start to realise their importance, the need to keep their lifecycle vibrant also becomes better understood.
 
As they develop their own lifecycle we find that APIs need to be updated, augmented and overhauled for reasons including: versioning, caching, security and operations.
TAKEAWAY THOUGHTWhereas a decade ago most business managers didn't know what an 'app' was, today the awareness of internal software mechanics like APIs has raised to (almost) boardroom level importance.
