The high impact, joint arrival of the cloud's processing power on one hand, and the ability to analyse big data on the other, constituted a ground-breaking moment for the IT world. Moving beyond black-or-white, binary-style responses, new models attempt to derive a meaning from big data by imitating the functioning of the brain. They provide enriched and contextualised information which becomes more refined over time. The aim: to help humans take better decisions, or even to replace the former.
