Amazon 'making progress towards drone delivery service'
Amazon is making strides towards the introduction of its drone-based delivery services if certain claims from the company's home city of Seattle are to be believed.
Reports suggest that the ecommerce company has been surveying properties in the city with a view to moving forward with its plans to roll out the Amazon Prime Air programme.
"Amazon is coming to my house to scan my backyard for Prime Air drone delivery next week!" tweeted Andru Edwards from Seattle on Thursday.
Edwards writes for a tech review website and appears in various official Amazon videos online.
Amazon has declined to comment on the suggestions that it is scanning properties in Seattle but the company has made no secret of its desire to start delivering products via drone in the near future.
Regulators in the US are currently working on laws that will dictate how commercial unmanned drones should be operated, with official rules expected to be in place within 12 months.
